From IT apprentice to founder of Alt Horizon, building measured, sustainable AI infrastructure on two decades of hands-on systems work.
A Different Way of Thinking
My career didn't start in a lecture hall. It started on the ground, as an IT apprentice with a technical brain and a drive to learn by doing. That order matters. Every architecture decision I make today sits on two decades of hands-on systems work before it sits on a strategy slide.
I'm dyslexic, and I treat it as an operating advantage: pattern recognition across systems, holistic framing of complex trade-offs, and an instinctive preference for concrete constraints over abstract plans. Research backs the same — dyslexic cognition over-indexes on big-picture reasoning. In AI strategy work, that's the job.
Now: Alt Horizon
I'm the founder of Alt Horizon, where we build Horizon Portal — the monitoring layer for AI that runs where your data lives. It reads real power, waste heat, Scope 2 carbon and cost from the machines your models actually run on, and traces every number from the token to the grid factor. Nothing leaves your perimeter.
The gap we exist to close is a measurement one. Cloud AI shows you a token at one end and a bill at the other, and asks you to trust everything in between. Because the portal runs on your hardware, every link is visible — including the waste heat, which most reporting forgets is recoverable. Instrumented, not estimated: every figure traces back to a machine you own.
It's one agent in three modes — ESG (energy, heat and Scope 2 from primary counters), Cyber (Cyber Essentials Plus evidence, observability only), and Horizon (the whole estate) — and it prices your workload both ways, self-hosted against cloud, so the comparison holds up to a CFO and a sustainability officer in the same meeting. If the answer is that you shouldn't self-host, we'll show you that too.
Bring us a real workload and we'll show you the numbers: althorizon.co.uk.

My deep, hands-on background is the key to my strategic approach. I don't just talk about high-level AI strategy; I understand the intricate details of the infrastructure, the data, and the workflows required to make it successful. This allows me to craft outcome-focused, commercially rounded, and technically superior solutions that disrupt the status quo and deliver real-world value.
